Japanese girl in Ukraine: Welcome to Odessa!Hi everybody! This summer we decided to try something new with my wife Sachiko. Since people in Japan don't know so much about Odessa or Ukraine, we had thought that it would be a fun and educating experience to shoot a series of videos where Sachiko would share her impressions from visiting Odessa and Ukraine. We are still very new to this format, so we have been experimenting a lot. You will see how the attitude changes between videos.

This is the very first "Intro" video where Sachiko will tell you about herself, a little bit about Odessa, about Japanese tourists in Odessa and why you should subscribe and keep on watching. The upcoming videos will show you Sachiko at the beach, at Privoz (the famous Odessa market), giving the interview in a tram, making Sushi at home and other stuff.

I invite you to subscribe to the YouTube channel, and I hope you will enjoy all the videos that we are going to make for you.

Queen - A Night at the Odeon cover imageOh boy! What a night!

We just finished watching Queen's legendary "A Night at the Odeon" concert with Alex. Actually, we got so excited that afterwards, we just had to re-watch some selected songs from the Rainbow Theatre concert (1974), Montreal (1981) and finally, the whole Live Aid performance (1985). Anyway, even though we only have "a part" of the famous Queen's Christmas Eve Hammersmith Odeon concert, since the BBC team packed before Queen started their second encore, which is only slightly longer than an hour, I could feel that it magically made me feel the way I don't remember feeling after watching the Rainbow Theatre concert, for example. Somehow, the band's energy from the very beginning till the end is so strong that only after the first chords of "God Save the Queen" started to play I could go back to reality.

Alex also mentioned that, even though he liked Rainbow Theatre concert's sound much more, the Odeon makes you feel like you are actually there at the concert.

To keep it short, if you haven't watched Queen's Hammersmith Odeon concert yet, you should consider doing it soon. Don't forget to turn the volume all the way up. It's sooo worth it!

I think that Richard Marx's "Endless Summer Nights" is one of the most beautiful and at the same time one of the saddest songs about love ever written. We recorded a "live" acoustic cover together with Alex, so here's my vision of the song...

Inspired by Marx's live performances as well as by the Living Room Sessions version.

Written by Richard Marx

Cover version performed by:
Stas Sagdeyev - vocals
Alex Vitkovskiy - Guitar

Recorded and mixed by Stas Sagdeyev
Produced by Stas Sagdeyev

And again, it's 100% Auto-Tune free.

I'm going from Berlin to Zurich by bus and I've just been forced to buy a full separate ticket for my viola.

Why can't I put it on a shelf like usual? Because if the bus driver suddenly hits the breaks then the viola might crash through and hurt somebody.

Why can't I put it under the seat then? Because if we get into the accident and would have to leave the bus immediately then the viola under the seat might become a serious obstacle.

That's why an instrument has to have a separate seat...

Fuck you, MeinFernbus!

Manley Massive Passive EQ in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie

It isn't a time to talk about how bad was new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie but could somebody explain why in the world the Turtles have a Manley Massive Passive device in their van?! We can spot it at approximately 1:32:30 in the movie.

Massive Passive is a studio mastering EQ. It could probably still make sense (say, the turtles prefer to make some really precise equalization for their stereo in the van) unless Donatello announced that they had a 7.1 surround system there. But Manley Massive Passive is only a two-channel EQ!

I don't know whether this kind of thing is happening in any country of the world other than Ukraine but maybe somebody could explain this to me.

What is the point of setting the Grivna exchange rate like UAH/USD - 16.5 and UAH/EUR - 19.5 "on paper", when the real rates the banks are working with, are 1$ ≈ 19₴ and 1€ ≈ 23₴?

That actually, approximately equals the exchange rate at the famous "Knizhka" (in Odessa) and other black markets that sell foreign currencies in Ukraine right now. Well, looks like the only difference between banks and the black market is that Ukrainian banks don't have any cash.

Great country management!

Final moments of the Chaika's concert

Hey!

I just went to the concert of "Chaika" where I used to play the Viola a few years ago. What can I say? Well done guys! Surely, it is still a great mistake that Mr Pritula didn't want to hire me as their sound engineer 4 years ago.

Check out this new video for the Queen's "Let Me In Your Heart Again". Recently released on the infamous "Queen Forever" this song featuring Freddie's vocals feels like a breath of fresh air. I also liked how they used outtakes from well-known Queen clips in the making of this video.

Aleksey Semenenko and Stas Sagdeyev in Zurich (2012)

The word just came around that at the gala-concert of Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra on the 25th of December might (and, most certainly, will) be playing my friend Aleksey Semenenko (violin). It's a bit funny though, because just the other day he was telling me that he might not be coming to Odessa in December because the flight tickets from Germany were too expensive.

Taylor Swift - Blank Space. Now, with Starbucks included.

While checking out the latest big Taylor Swift's hit "Blank Space" from the recently released "1989" album I had experienced a "Lana Del Rey's Cola effect". I could clearly hear the line "Call lonely Starbucks lovers" in the chorus but, surely, I was like "no, it cannot be that". Of course the actual line reads nothing like that. It is actually "Got a long list of ex-lovers". 37 seconds of googling revealed that I, in fact, wasn't the only mishearing psycho out there.
