I needed to take care of some “paper” business at the ZHdK’s Ausstellungsstrasse (also known as Hochschuladministration) building and specially for that I came from Winterthur to Zürich but only to find out that today it is closed due to something called Knabenschiessen (later I found out that it is a traditional Zurich’s target shooting competition for kids held in Albisgüetli). All right, who could know when it’s Monday? However, it made me a bit upset. I headed to Florhofgasse hoping to get some stuff from the library. This way it wouldn’t be a complete waste of time. Even though the building itself was open, the library was closed due to the same reason. Then I got officially pissed off.
Was there a way to prevent this kind of thing? Yes. No secret that every day we, students of the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, receive tons of useless junk into our @zhdk mailbox. The amusing thing is that some people are actually getting paid to write this stuff that no-one reads (“I want that job!” – Wally). How hard could it be to send a really useful email once in a while? I guess something like “Dear students, the [blah-blah-blah, put some buildings here] will be closed on the xx of ****ember” would suffice.
It’s a shame that these simple things do not happen. I'm pissed off. You should be too.
